Resultado de imagen para single words

The chapter is about lexis. Lexis refers to individual words and groups of words that have meaning. This unit explain us two types of meaning of the words. Firstly, the meaning that describe meaning or ideas of the word behind of vocabulary item. This meaning is “denotative” while other is figurative meaning, it is like a superficial meaning or metaphorical meaning. In lexis we can find the meaning of some vocabulary meaning from their form and the context that is used.  On the other hand, there are others words that need to add suffixes and prefixes. For example, unpolite, politeness. The process of adding affixes is called affixation. Beside of it we have other words that regularly occur together like: collocations (words that often occur together), idioms and fixed expression and all these are chunks. Also, we discussed about the synonyms, antonyms, lexical set, false friends, homophones and homonyms. All these are part of lexis each word has the relationship between them to make sentences. To teach it to our pupils we as teachers need to know the context to talk. Maybe, teacher create the situation to compare two languages. How these two language situation impact our learning. Also, I can give then flashcards with single words and they can make a sentences or they can add suffixes or prefixes to the root of the word. Doing these activities they can practice about lexis, they can reflect by themselves.
